Jacinda was singled out as special by her Pride when she manifested with the ability to breath fire. A fire-breather hasn't been born to the Draki for generations, and there are those in the Pride who would use her for their own ends. Craving freedom, Jacinda takes a risk that nearly costs her life. Now Jacinda's mother has dragged her and twin sister Tamra from their mountain home, sneaking away in the middle of the night, leaving everything they knew behind.

Their new life in the desert is stifling, for more than just the heat. Jacinda's mother wants her to let go of the Draki, let it wither away insider her until she can manifest it no longer so she can finally be safe from those in the Pride who would use her, and everything about the environment they live in speeds that process on its way.

Except for Will. Will the boy who brings Jacinda's Draki form dangerously close to the surface. It's the Draki's greatest secret that they can take human form and Jacinda knows better than to reveal that to anyone, least of all Will, who has a few secrets of his own.

This book has eaten up my whole day. I picked it up to read while I was waiting for my lunch to cook. Suddenly it's much later in the afternoon and I've read the whole thing, demolished it in one sitting. So, to say it was absorbing, fast paced, thrilling and romantic is a bit of an understatement.

Jordan's Firelight is everything that is good about paranormal romance. There is magic, danger, forbidden love, great chemistry between the leads, and a sense of the inevitable downfall of the secret lovers that keeps you turning pages, even as you hope their star-crossed romance is never revealed.

The only thing that annoyed me a little bit was I found it really hard to imagine what the Draki looked like. Full on dragons? Or some sort of human-dragon hybrid. I couldn't really work it out. Not that this impaired my enjoyment of the book.

I thoroughly recommend it!

My thanks to the publishers for sending a copy.
