You would think he'd be grateful for an easy answer but the words 'perverse' and tries 'John Tanner' were made for each other. He's sleep-deprived to run and then hears sirens behind him, which the point of falling asleep at work but he should not hear 's determined to keep going - probably because this is New Zealand and that is not how they do things there, he takes a risk.
