Mimi the Mouse and her family are going on an adventure in the big city, visiting shops, cafes and parks along the way. Mimi wears a bright red bow on top of her head and a pair of pretty pink fairy wings on her back, so you would think she would stand out in a crowd. But does she?
Let’s Find Mimi in the City is a typical ‘'Search and Find' book in the style of Where’s Wally, but seems to be aimed at a younger target audience, as the scenes are less cluttered and complicated. Each scene is set in a certain location in the city, such as the department store, post office or park. A little poem on each page gives the reader a clue as to Mimi’s location, but she can still be surprisingly difficult to find! For example, one clue says that Mimi is on the deck of a riverboat, but the picture contains eleven riverboats, each full of white mice that seem to look very similar to Mimi!
An additional challenge is to find each member of Mimi’s family: Grandma Mitty, Grandpa Monty, Aunty Mel, Sister Molly, Brother Mac and Mum and Dad. They are also hiding somewhere in each picture and can be identified by their clothing.
The book is deceptively challenging, but lots of fun. It is really difficult to find all of the characters in each scene, but children (and parents) will have a real sense of achievement once they have found them all. A perfect activity for wet afternoons or long car journeys, the book also has a board game inside the front cover which should keep the children entertained for even longer.
Have you found Mimi and her family? Then try searching for meerkats in Where's the Meerkat? Journey Through Time by Paul Moran or look for the hidden circus animals in The Circus Ship by Chris Van Dusen
