|summary=Stevie Dunsford works in London as a solicitor and is pretty content with her life. In fact, her successful and good looking boyfriend Nick has just proposed so the future should be looking really good. That is until a desperate phone call leads to her returning to her family farm with the need to bail her dad out of a tricky situation. What should have been a weekend visit lasts so much longer and eventually Stevie has to decide on her future. Stay on the farm or return to London and Nick? What she doesn’t realise though is that there’s soon to be an added complication that she never could have foreseen.
}}
When Stevie Dunsford receives a call to tell her that her father’s farm is in danger of going under, she doesn’t have any idea how bad things really are. Her life is in London with her successful career in accountancy and her good looking boyfriend. She plans to go to the farm in Devon for the weekend to sort things out and that will be that. However, when she discovers the state of things, she has no option other to stay and try to make things better even though she and her father have been estranged for years. What she does not expect though, is how readily and happily she fits back into life on the farm and soon her London life and Nick start to lose their attraction. Of course, this new contentment has got nothing to do with her blossoming relationship with the gorgeous local vet, Leo. It’s time to move forward and commit to the farm and Leo. However, just as things are really looking good, Stevie makes an unexpected discovery that threatens to ruin everything.

I really enjoyed this book, finding it a light and easy read. The story lines kept my interest from the very first pages and there was lots going on. I liked the fact that the story was set on a farm as this provided an interesting backdrop to the main story which was all about Stevie’s tricky relationships and her endeavour to rescue the farm and take it into the twenty-first century. Her ideas meet with a great deal of resistance though and it takes a great deal of determination to bring her reluctant neighbours on side. I liked this aspect of her character.

There’s also a great deal of uncertainty within the book as to the question of whether Leo and Stevie will get it together or not. Cathy Woodman, certainly teases the reader at times and every time that one might think that the relationship might start to blossom, she is not averse to throwing a spanner in the works, so to speak.

The story is set in the fictional village of Talyton St George, and there are many interesting residents to get to know. In fact, many of Cathy Woodman’s books are set here so I assume that if you read more of these, you would really become acquainted with the villagers. Although this was the first novel that I had read by this author, I didn’t feel that I needed to read the ones that came before in order to enjoy it. Having said that though, I definitely am keen to read more from Cathy Woodman and will be looking out for her books in the future.
