Summary: We all die - it's an inevitable fact. But have you ever wondered what happened to famous corpses once they were deceased? In this short but sweet book, Bess Lovejoy tells us of the fates of various corpses, from Albert Einstein's road trip, to Admiral Nelson's storage in brandy. This great little collection of true stories will make an excellent stocking filler for those with a liking for the macabre. | |

All sorts has happened to deceased famous people - stolen, sold, stuffed, etc.
Bess Lovejoy has collected the fates of the celebrity deceased and tells them here - in a cracking little book that will be ideal as a stocking filler or small gift for those who enjoy slightly gruesome tales.
The book is wonderfully designed, with lovely illustrations marking the beginning of every chapter and a fantastic cover design. Whilst small, Lovejoy covers a wide range of famous corpses, and makes all of the stories enjoyable - no matter how grim!
All of the tales are amusing, slightly gruesome, and always intriguing. It really is fascinating to see what happened to some hugely influential people after their deaths, and all of the stories are written with a sense of humour and a genuine curiosity.
My only real grumble is that it isn't longer - sadly my review copy is only a sample, and cuts off at the halfway point. I'll certainly be planning on looking for a copy of the full book, as I was intrigued by many of the stories told.
Many thanks to Duckworth Overlook for the copy
Edgar Allen Poe's death is mentioned in this book, and is always a fascinating one. Poe by Peter Ackroyd is a great look at both his life, and his untimely death - probably his greatest mystery
