Summary: If you're not an all-singing, all-dancing author who loves the site of a microphone and a crowd, then this could be the book you need. It's very accessible and easy to understand. Recommended. Kim Staflund popped into Bookbag Towers to chat to us.

In these days of high profile authors we've become accustomed to seeing writers on television, at literary festivals and at book signings - or, indeed anywhere where they have the opportunity to stand up and promote their latest book. But what if you're not the all-singing, all dancing model? What if, perish the thought, you're positively introverted? Should it put you off writing and publishing your book in the first place? And how are you going to manage to promote it? Kim Staflund has a secret to share. She's introverted. But she's managed to promote any number of successful books - her own and other people's - and she's decided to explain how you can do it too.

You're probably thinking - mindful that most authors complain about the amount of time which they're forced to spend on promotion - that this will be time consuming, but Staflund shows how you can do this in six hours a week, or just an hour a day, six days a week. She gives clear instructions as to how you can blog your way to success, using the elements of search engine optimisation and keywords which lift you up the search engine rankings. If you're not already an expert on social media there's enough information in the book to get you started so that you can develop your own style.

I'm something of an introvert myself so I was interested to see whether or not I would feel that I could be pushed beyond what I found tolerable, but I felt that if I was doing this I would be well within my comfort zone. At no point would I have to go out and try and sell a book face to face, or stand up and speak about it. Better still, there's a lot of encouragement to think about what you as the author want to achieve in terms of sales and in terms of profit. There are even spaces left for you to fill in with your thoughts so that you have a ready record.

The writing is clear - you feel as though a friend is chatting to you and giving you advice and the book is a quick and easy read. Don't feel that you're going to have to gird your loins to approach it: I read it through in a couple of hours and then went back and concentrated on areas which I found particularly relevant. I came away believing that if I wanted to promote a book I would have a simple plan of action which I would be able to follow without feeling any discomfort.

I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to the Bookbag.

We were also impressed by Staflund's earlier book, which is packed with gems of advice. If you're more extrovert then you might appreciate The Ultimate Guide to Writing and Marketing a Bestselling Book - on a Shoestring Budget by Dee Blick.
