Lynne Thomas grew up in South Wales in a little village in the valleys. Her childhood memories mainly involve mountains, rivers, creepy railway bridges, bikes, skateboards and air rifles (probably least said about the last one the better) and long, long Sunday afternoons when everyone shut up shop and the only thing to do was race full pelt down a foggy mountain or try and skateboard across the river Taff. In a traditional village, you’ve got to be inventive.

On leaving Uni with a degree in Industrial Design and the patience of a saint after working in Tesco every weekend for six years, Lynne embarked on a twisty-turny career path that included working as a product manager for a character licensed novelty confectionary company, writing content for a youth information charity and recruiting lay people to get involved in health and social care research projects. She is currently product manager for a healthcare company.

Lynne started Jelly Cooper back in 2000 after suddenly remembering how much she used to love writing before life got in the way. She was shortlisted for the WHSmith Raw Talent Award in 2002 after submitting chapter one of Jelly Cooper: Alien. The next ten years were spent tinkering with the manuscript and trying to get it published.

In 2013, she took the plunge and did it herself.

Lynne is short (five foot on an incline), female (you never can tell with the name Lynne - could be man, woman, parrot...anything really) and speaks fluent Welsh. She goes fishing once a month on a boat with ten burly fishermen and has a phobia of oversized things (propellers should not be the size of houses – it’s just wrong). She lives in Cardiff with friends and her stray cat, Stinky Kev.

Jelly Cooper: Alien is Lynne’s first book. She’d love to hear what you think.
