Dave grew up in Greater Manchester, England, where he lives with his wife and two young sons.

He's a fan of Stephen King, Margaret Atwood, and Cormac McCarthy amongst others, and has always been drawn to high-stakes, sprawling adventures - particularly in dystopian, post-apocalyptic settings.

The inspiration for his debut novel, The White Rose, comes in many shapes and sizes. From other novels such as The Stand, Metro 2033, The Road, and A Canticle for Leibowitz, games like the original Fallout and Last of Us series, and movies and TV shows I Am Legend, Game of Thrones, and The Book of Eli.
