[[:Category:Stephan Santiago|Stephan Santiago]] has experienced life in a way that's led him to believe we're all on a soul journey back home – that place we inhabited before we were born. This book is a guide as to how we can optimise this journey for ourselves, those around us and our children.
In order to accomplish this Stephan draws from a number of philosophies, giving them a New Age flavour. Hints of Ancient Greek thought (particularly Plato's idea of mankind being drawn towards a unifying source) mixes with Buddhist ideas of pre-birth cognition.
There are some enigmatic moments throughout the book. For instance Stephan tells us that beliefs can hamper our development and prevent us from choosing the right path for our journey. Yet the idea of returning home and mankind being a collective consciousness are in themselves beliefs.
Stephan's writings include pieces of universal wisdom. The absence of love allowing fear to dominate… we can't love one another while looking for love ourselves… I was nodding along in agreement at this stage as he brings us concepts that are echoed across many wise writings globally. Indeed the fact that putting one's faith in other people leads to disappointment is well worth his reminder as it's something that many of us learn from bitter experience.
Using terms like 'soul contract' means this could be thought of as a volume to reinforce and assure those who already know they're on this soul journey rather than new seekers. However, this short book contains much to ponder and therefore has the potential to become a well-thumbed accompaniment along the way.
(I'd like to thank the publisher for providing us with a copy for review.)
Further Reading: If you'd like to look more deeply into a selection of philosophies and their messages, we also recommend [[The Secrets of Happiness by Richard Schoch]].
