For this, her second novel after ''Atlas of Unknowns'' (shortlisted for the DSC Prize for South Asian literature) and the story collection ''Aerogrammes'', she clearly draws on her personal knowledge of India in all its contradictions, especially when it comes to environmental policy. The novel alternates between three perspectives: a third-person account of an elephant named the Gravedigger and first-person narratives from a poacher and a documentary filmmaker.
