Taking in Water is Pamela Johnson's third novel, which was supported by an Arts Council Writers’ Award. She has published two previous novels, Under Construction and Deep Blue Silence, both with Sceptre.

She's a creative writing tutor with a reputation for nurturing talent. For over ten years she has taught fiction on the MA in Creative & Life Writing, Goldsmiths, University of London. Among her ex-students are other Bookbag authors, Evie Wyld & Ross Raisin.

Previously, she worked as an independent critic, curator and lecturer on contemporary visual art. Her essays, articles and reviews on contemporary visual art have appeared in journals, broadsheets and gallery publications. She has drawn on her knowledge of artists to create the characters in Taking In Water.

Currently, she's working on her fourth novel and a collection of poems. She runs the literary blog, Words Unlimited.
