''This is Not a Science Book'' explores the often-overlooked link between science and creativity. This interactive book encourages readers to get cutting, glueing, twisting, colouring and shading in order to create a variety of at-home experiments that are as entertaining as they are educational. The activities are also perfect for a rainy day; making this book a welcome resource during the long (and often wet) school holidays.

Every page has something to do and unlike many books of this type, there are thankfully no blank pages; it is literally crammed full of activities. The activities are also diverse and varied and include, amongst other things: mapping the bones of your hand, creating optical illusions, crafting a cut-out skeleton and building a distorted-perspective room. I was grateful for the specially designated section at the back of the book which provides all of the cut-outs and templates that are required and avoids the need to cut or damage the rest of the book.

I am a huge fan of Ivy Press and their consistently high-quality books. The books are so unique and eye-catching that they really stand out on a bookshop display. ''This is Not a Science Book'' is the perfect addition to the Ivy Kids collection and is sure to provide hours of entertainment. As a home educator, I intend to use the book in science lessons with my son and find it a valuable resource, not just for the home-educating community but for anyone with a curious or creative child. I'm particularly looking forward to creating the flip-book of a chameleon eating a fly!

I cannot praise this book highly enough and know that we are going to have a lot of fun trying out the different activities over the coming months, as well as learning new things in the process. Many grateful thanks to the publishers for my review copy; this really is an exceptional book, beautifully presented.
