Kevin O'Donnell grew up in New York City. As a teenager, he enjoyed writing short stories and poems. He often drew from his favorite movies, books, and video games for inspiration. In his 20s, he began writing his novel series A Spark in the Ashes. His inspiration for this series came from games like Fallout and Dark Souls, books like The Omega Man, and post-apocalyptic shows like ''The Walking Dead''.

Kevin lives with his wife, two children, and dog on Long Island.
