|summary=A simple board book about eating, this is short on words but brimming with colour and fun.
}}
Babies love books and babies love eating, so a book about eating is bound to be a hit with the toddler brigade. This book comes to life the moment you pick it up and feel like someone is watching you. As the cover baby’s eyes roll ominously from side to side you feel a frisson of excitement. What more fun is hidden within the pages?

While, sadly, that is the extent of the ‘features’ of this book, the inside doesn’t disappoint. The theme is eating, so we find out who eats what. Mum is having an apple, and dad a sandwich. How about the dog though? Look, there he is with a bone.

There’s not a story, per se, but there is a punch line. What does baby eat? Baby eats EVERYTHING! And with what gusto. I’m not quite sure what the purple gunk is, but everything else is identifiable and leads nicely on to a chat. Baby eats bananas? Do you eat bananas? What’s that? A strawberry for baby? Would you like a strawberry?

I liked the way adjectives were used to add to the descriptions even with this age group. So granny is eating ''smelly'' cheese, and the worm (don’t ask) is digging into ''mucky'' mud.

The illustrations are thick lined colour blocks. Low on intricate detail, high on recognisability. I’m intrigued by how a blond mum and an ethnic dad had a ginger baby, but that’s maybe by the by.

This is a nice, sturdy board book that they can chew on, until they read it and realise food is much tastier! Recommended.

Thanks go to the publishers for supplying this book.
