|summary=Another wonderful non-fiction book from Tracey Turner that children will love. They'll be agog at finding out what to do in perilous situations, and learn plenty in the process. Highly recommended.

Have you ever wondered what to do if you're bitten by blue-ringed octopus, or if you find yourself up to your neck in quicksand? It's a dangerous world out there and Tracey Turner has all the information that young explorers, daredevils and fact-hounds need to know.
Deadly Peril is another fantastic slice of children's non-fiction from the author of the Comic Strip Histories of the World and Space. Boys ('scuse stereotyping) will devour its every word. It strikes the perfect tone. It tells the truth about the dangers - it touches on an almost grim morbidity, tinging it with a hint of black humour (the last item on every worst -case scenario is that you die). That might not sound like a good thing, but it has an enticing honesty that demands respect. It also imbues its young audience with the knowledge to deal with these (admittedly unlikely) situations. It might sound hideously unsuitable, but it's really not!
It's ideal for confident readers who turn their noses up at fiction, as it's substantial enough to really get your teeth into. Any older tweens or younger teens who struggle slightly with reading may find it perfect for them too. As a whole, it may appear challenging, but it's broken up into bite-sized chunks, clearly separated and with plenty of bullet points, meaning it really can be tackled a page at a time.
My thanks to the publishers for sending it to Bookbag.
The Bumper Book of Bravery by Charlie Norton is a modern -day Boy's Own annual, which young non-fiction fans will love. Bad Kids: the Worst-Behaved Children in History by Tony Robinson is also great fun. You could shelve this next to Dreadful Fates by Tracey Turner.
