No - I'm not going to tell you what happens! Suffice it to say that it's a gorgeous story of maternal love, devotion and bravery, but most of all it's about the power of having a dream, even if it is just a tiny bit unrealistic! There's a lovely tension in the story and surprisingly, I found that it was still there when I reread the book. I can imagine young readers squealing as the story progresses.
It's a lovely book to share with a child. The story is good and the illustrations complement it perfectly. They're of the type which reward rewards a second look - I found quite a few gems on my second reading. It's good for the emerging reader too - a perfect size for small hands to hold without assistance and with a suitably sturdy construction that means this isn't a books book about which you need to be ''too'' precious.
