The story is simple, but does bring up interesting ideas about what is 'normal', and whether it's best to fit in like everyone else, or just have fun in your own personal way. I've always been keen on dressing up myself (World Book Day is one of my favourite days of the year now I have children at school and can join in their dressing up with them!) so I enjoyed all the many and varied ideas for future potential costumes! It did make me think for a moment, though, about how my children feel about my dressing up! This is fun to share, and a good, lively read.
Further reading suggestion: For more about clothes try The Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson or for another funny dad story you might enjoy Daddy's Sandwich by Pip Jones and Laura Hughes. We also have a review of Smith's The Cake, the Wolf and the Witch.
