Polly’s wedding lumbers from one disaster to another and just when you think things couldn’t get any worse, Henry finds yet another way to ruin the big day. My favourite scene was when Henry sneaked off at the reception and started to nibble at the cake. When, to his great surprise, the cake whispered Eat Me! who was Henry to ignore such a request?
Horrid Henry’s Wedding is part of the Early Reader series which encourages children to make the transition from picture books to reading books. There are fantastic (and very funny) colour illustrations on each page to engage young readers and the story is humorous and action-packed. It is perfect for parents to share with their children, or for more confident readers to tackle alone.
My son loved the book and he was giggling with delight as he turned each page whilst reading to himself. After he had finished reading, he thrust the book into my hand and said You’ve got to read this, Mum. It is really funny. A pretty good endorsement, even if I do say so myself!
