I trained as a psychologist and have worked in universities in Melbourne, St Andrews, Dundee and Aix-en-Provence, carrying out research into the way people represent space – in particular, when viewing film. I began writing fiction full time about ten years ago. My first three novels were meant to be read as adventure stories - the sort that appeal to children from the age of seven to seventy. They examine the lives of a group of children “trapped in amber” over a period of a few golden months. A recurring theme in the books is the relationship between art (painting in particular) and reality. I have recently embarked on a series of novels treating the same characters as adults after a lapse of many years, examining how traits evident in childhood matured and flowered.  I live and work in the South-West of France.
