Imagine a board book - substantial and with the sort of colours which babies reach for - but with the head of a glove puppet peeping through the book. In this case it's a rabbit in a soft, blue material which just begs to be stroked and a pale pink nose. You pop your index finger into the pupet from the back of the book and you can read to your baby as you turn the pages - and baby can watch as Bunny has his bib put on and eats his meal.
The glove puppet is firmly anchored in the book and of sufficient size that it's possible to be quite expressive without a great deal of effort. It would be wonderful for encouraging a reluctant eater and for making meal times fun. The book is solidly made and will stand quite a lot of handling by small fingers and it's definitely not going to be one of those books which Mummy has to keep on her shelf.
We've also seen Dive In, Ducky from the same series. Here Duck enjoys his bathtime. The puppet is slightly simpler (no ears, you see) but there's just as much in he way of fun and games to be had.
I'd like to thank the publisher for sending the books to the Bookbag.
Another board book we can recommend (although, saddly, without a glove puppet) is Miaow! by Mick Inkpen.
