Lulu and Granny are going shopping to get a present for Mummy. They consider getting a book, candle or some chocolates, but eventually decide on the perfect present. Mummy loves it.

I really enjoyed ''A Present From Lulu''. That may be because I know a Lulu, but it's still a lovely book. It's a very simple story, ideal for sharing with the youngest children. It's gentle, sweet and even though not a lot happens, there's plenty to pore over on every page.

Caroline Uff's illustrations are big, bold and swimming with warmth. I chuckled at the picture of Lulu in her sunglasses! You can tell that Lulu and Granny had a lovely time going shopping together, and other Grannies will have fun reading it with their Lulus, then planning a shopping trip together to get presents for people.

Those who've moved on to slightly more detailed picture books will wish that a little more happened in the story, but the youngest of children will really enjoy this charming tale. Recommended.

My thanks to the publishers for sending it to Bookbag.

[[Chick by Ed Vere]] is another tale that the youngest book-fans will lap up. [[Olivia Helps With Christmas by Ian Falconer]] is another book with an element of shopping in it - albeit with a Christmassy theme.
