REPEATING STANDARD WARNING!

If you haven't read the first book in this series, STOP READING NOW! NOW! Spoilers ahoy!

Go on. Run along.

Gone? Good.

Just making sure...

Ok. Let's begin.

We've made it all the way to the penultimate instalment of Darren Shan's zombie apocalypse series. Yep. It's book eleven. And yet, it only seems like yesterday that we first met B Smith. I think that's a tribute to the sheer pace of Shan's writing. Because poor Becky hasn't had a moment of rest in the whole thing. She's died. She's revitalised. She's fought. She's been captured by villains multiple times. She's been in a zombie version of Fight Club. She's been operated on and tortured by a psychopath. She's lost friends. She's been forced to confront her own racist upbringing. B hasn't just been through hell and back. She's been through hell and back a hundred times over.

Book eleven begins as Becky is trying to escape from the clutches of the mad clown Mr Dowling. If she can locate his most prized possession - a serum that could put an end to the zombie plague forever - she could return the world to humanity and die in peace. But Becky is about to make a discovery that will change everything and shake her faith in Doctor Oystein, the person she trusts most in the world.

Will B finally give up in hopelessness? Or will she find a reason to fight on?

Honestly. You can't knock this series. Just as you think that you've seen it all, in comes Shan with a brand new set of wham! bam! twists and turns and revelations. And how does he get you to like a murderous incubus of a zombie baby?! I really want to know! I've probably said all there is to say about this series in previous reviews. So all you need to know about this penultimate story is that it keeps rocking on with glorious abandon.

I'm looking forward to the last instalment!

More deliciously gory undead series you might enjoy include The Enemy by Charlie Higson and Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry.
