Meet Jenna and Jonah, Charlie and Fielding – they're the stars of the hit TV show Jenna and Jonah's How To Be A Rock Star. On-screen they're next-door neighbours in a will they, won't they plot. Off-screen they're every bit the perfect couple they are on TV, romantic dinners, flowers – the lot. The problem is they hate each other. You heard me right, they loathe each other.
Forced together in a huge marketing scheme, they have to be seen to be the perfect couple 24 hours of the day, which makes dating other people impossible. That's until their cover is blown, and the two of them flee away from the media attention and into hiding. While away from Hollywood they start to learn things about each other that four years of filming never taught them. It changes them and they way they see each other. But when thrown into a new project together, Shakespeare, a million miles away from their Disney-esque TV series, will they cope? And more importantly will they cope with each other?
This book is nice and easy read. It's comforting, almost. The plot, though predictable from the start, is good. it also knows its audience, and uses its self-awareness to its advantage – teenage girls are going to love this. Jenna and Jonah are well written characters, full of teenage angst – they definitely play off each other well. This was the best thing about this book; the dialogue between Jenna and Jonah, though at face value they seem to be just throwing abuse at each other, there is another level to it. I would definitely recommend this book if you like your girly will-they, won't-they books.
I'd like to thank the publishers for sending me a copy of this book in all its pink glory.
