I love the Blue Bloods series; it’s one of the best vampire series around for teenagers. It’s original and clever, which means it stands out from the rest. When I was sent this book I thought it was going to be the next in the series. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This book is a little guide.
Throughout the book there are character profiles for everyone who has appeared over the series, with known past lives, a reminder of what the character has done and what has happened to them throughout the series so far. After these comes a short story, or extract referring to the characters just mentioned. I must say is a treat. Currently, Melissa de la Cruz is writing a spin off book about werewolves. I do feel this does encroach on Twilight’s ground a bit, and was disappointed that she chose to take that route with the narrative. However, it makes you feel like a member of a club, getting inside information about the next books. Also, contained in the book are short stories that are set during the events of the previous books of the Blue Bloods series but old from a different characters point of view, or even just filling in the gaps. It’s a good time for a book like this to appear, as the volume of books in this sequence grows, to have a one book to refer back to for all you need to know.
I think this is a fantastic little book that is a great accompaniment to the Blue Bloods series. If you are a fan of the books, then it is a must have! However, I would recommend it to those just starting to read the series as the Dictionary of Terms will come in handy.
I'd like to thank the publishers for sending a copy to The Bookbag.
Further reading suggestion: If you haven’t read the series it begins with Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. Other books like these that I would suggest are City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
